Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Huhtamaki Finance B.V., Huhtamäki owned and licensed the Leaf Trademark. The Leaf Trademark is a recognized and established brand name with a presence in the sports trading card sector since 1948.
Fredericks Michael & Co. acted as Huhtamäki’s exclusive financial advisor with respect to the potential license or sale of the Leaf Trademark, a non-core asset, to Mercury Partners LLC. After exploring strategic alternatives for licensing or selling Leaf to many of the participants in the sports trading card sector, Huhtamäki together with FM&Co. selected Mercury Partners LLC, a company whose principals have extensive experience in the trading card sector, for final negotiations and the sale and purchase of Leaf.
